Your Name in Runes

PBS.org has a neat interactive thing that allows you to put in your name (or any other word/s) and it will translate it into runes. Then you can click on the individual rune to find out its meaning.

C - Kenaz represents a torch or some other source of light

R - Raido signified a long journey

Y - Jera means year or harvast

S - Sowilo represents the sun

T - Tiwaz is the rune of the war god Tyr, Tiwaz was often carved on weaponry

A - Ansuz could refer to ant deity, but was most associated with Odin

L - Laguz is associated with water

I had looked my last name up on Ancestry.com and here is what was posted:

Osborne Name Meaning
English: from the Old Norse personal name Ásbjorn, composed of the elements ás ‘god’ + björn ‘bear’. This was established in England before the Conquest, in the late Old English form Osbern, and was later reinforced by Norman Osbern. The surname Osborne has also been widely established in Ireland since the 16th century.
